I've only heard tale about it, what with me having been in new york and all.

but for all of you that are on this list of friends/members who attempted to attend rocky at teasers cafe on this past thursday
(this is crossposted or will be to pure_antimatter and teasers_cafe and to the yahoo group)

I would like to formally apologize for the lack of organization and ultimately consideration for the audience that occured, eventually ending up in the cancellation of the show

that having been said, the show WILL go on this thursday, it's non-negotiable.

just wanted to say hey, i just joined. my relationship with teasers tends to be live band performances dating back to felicia's soundlab days. i help out the promoters when i can with sound, the door, whatever--even played there a few times. one of the few places to see all ages shows or local acts, so i'm down--good people. so...HI!

This is a frightening day. [05 Jun 2004|08:35pm]

[ mood | nauseated ]

Everybody cross your fingers and say little prayers for the Teaser's employees tonight. All of you who are working--Daryl, Jessica, The Gay Guy, Alex, T.C., that annoying girl who works the door whose name I've forgotten again--just know, you are in my thoughts and heart as you brave the unknown terrors of the ghetto crowd WITHOUT COPS.

And you will be terribly missed if you get shot tonight.

The bartender list in the bio needs to be updated. I'd do it myself, as co-creator of the community, but T.C. seems to have relinquished my rights as such.

Also, I suppose it's somehow relevant to Teasers... the annual Connect Magazine winner for best hip-hop artist in Savannah was the late Camouflage. Quite a feat, since he was... kind of dead for most of this year.

Tonight was hardcore, need I say more? The movie score was loud and more; it was so hardcore!

Holy crap.

No moshing. No tips. No ass kicking.

My spirit cried. For what it was, the music wasn't too bad though.

So, I showed the letter to the owner, and the police officers per their request once I told them about the letter. The police officers told us that the catch line was, "A number of fights, purse snatchings and robberies have occurred at or near Teaser's Cafe..." The key words being "at or near". They said that with those words, so it's true.

Because people get mugged at or around Teaser's, because it's next to the civic center (where more people are mugged than anywhere else in Savannah). Of course, the same could be said for almost any place downtown.

"A number of fights, purse snatchings and robberies have occurred at or near City Market..."
"A number of fights, purse snatchings and robberies have occurred at or near River Street..."
"A number of fights, purse snatchings and robberies have occurred at or near the police station..."
"A number of fights, purse snatchings and robberies have occurred at or near City Hall..."

This is all drizzle from the television broadcast about the stupid gas station. I doubt this will have any effect on business at Teasers, because looking at this, it doesn't look like SCAD kids read those security advisements anyway.

I finally found the link to the news spot that was on T.V. Pretty stupid shit. Especially considering Saturday is the only night that we allow all ages (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday?).

For those of you that don't know, we were on the news a few weeks ago. We got a really bad rap for shit that wasn't our fault. It seems that a bunch of kids looted a store right around the time we closed (coincidence?). Even if the people who did it were our patrons earlier in the night; how are we at fault? We hire police security and our parking lot is empty after closing. Regardless, we received full credit for the vandalism, excessive shoplifting, and whatever else went on. The weekend following that the building was surrounded by police officers waiting to witness the "carnage" as it unfolds. Little did they know that they actually showed up on the wrong night, and they were aggressive guarding (with as many as 30 police officers!) a club full of (passive) gay hip-hop fans. That's right, the stupid bastards showed up on Lesbian Night.

So, of course, nothing happened.

But someone told me about this e-mail that was sent to all SCAD kids as a warning:

letter from SCADCollapse )

Fights, yes. Purse snatchings? Robberies? I'm afraid not. Not to my knowledge anyway. I think that at least one of the police officers that's there would have mentioned something to me about the previous if they had happened.
